Tennis elbow is caused by a strain to tendons in the forearm. The tendon become inflamed where they join the bony part on the outside of your elbow joint. 

Despite its name, most cases of tennis elbow occur in people who don’t play tennis. People whose jobs feature the types of motions that can lead to tennis elbow include plumbers, painters, carpenters and butchers.

Its just mid April now, summer has already started showing its effect in Kolkata and its surrounding places. Everyday temperature level is rising up , hovering around 40° C. Kolkata’s trial by Celsius got worse on last Monday with the hottest April day in a decade and the prospect of the heatwave continuing at least until Thursday. The maximum temperature recorded on the first working day of the week was 41.3° C five notches above normal and only the third time in 10 years that the Celsius had breached 41 in April 2016.

The weather office has said that the maximum temperature would stay in the same range – between 41° to 42° Celsius – on Tuesday and that the heatwave would persist at least till Thursday.

1. Try to keep yourself out of direct sunlight especially during peak hours from 12-4 pm and instead engage them in indoor activities during that time of the day. Limit non-essential strenuous activity during the hottest parts of the day.

2. If you are traveling make sure you drink lots of fluids. Wearing light colored cotton clothes can help you beat the heat and cool baths can keep your body temperature in control.

3. Eat Smart. Nature gives you the ideal food during this time, so make sure you include them in your diet. Eating watermelon, papaya, mango and banana can cool your system.

4. As the body loses essential minerals due to sweating these need to be replaced without fail or else the body may experience heat exhaustion and cramps. Keep yourself hydrated. Water is the best coolant and keeps the body temperature down, while also avoiding heat-related physical problems.

5. Wear light weight clothing and be sun-smart. Wear loose clothing so that your skin can breathe. Make sure you get enough sleep and rest if you feel tired.
